I'm really interested in Star-Bright but I'm wondering what the deal is on this "+tax" business. Is this sales tax or the tax I pay Obama when I buy Avgas? If it is sales tax than what is the rate?

This is tax on aircraft rental, books and materials. Instruction is a service, and you don't pay taxes on services (or housing). But we have to pay sales tax on aircraft rental and materials. The tax rate is 7% in Kansas.
Taxes are already included in the program prices.

Oh, and the thing about the "+tax" on the website; those prices are not current. Those are regular prices before fuel prices went down. Most of the time we have special prices that are lower than those on the website. And we figure the prices with tax included for simplicity. So the prices we quote people already include tax.
