Sure can! If you want ice stuck to your leading edge, best to let it build up a bit and then blow the boots. That ice bridging thing happens on the newer ribbed style boots too.

It was the leftover crap stuck to leading edge below the point of stagnation, it didn't want to shed after a severe icing encounter (perhaps it was bridged.) Amazing how it just sticks and doesn't want to shed, all the ice above it was just stuck to the boot. It finally started melting in the descent half way to the runway from the FAF. The pic of the windscreen was taken well after the windshield heat finally caught up and melted the stuff off that looked like the non heated portion. I've had 3 or 4 severe icing encounters in the 99 and a couple in the Metro, puts some hair on your chest I guess.
