I'm an active duty enlisted Marine and I have the option to go to Riddle for their flight program with the GI Bill. I've already attended their world wide to earn my A&P License. How is their flight program? I've heard a lot of good things about them, but I'm not sure how much of it is just hype and people trying to sell me. I looked over the curriculum of the program and it looks pretty challenging and it seems like that you can really get a good and well rounded aviation education.

If anyone has attended ERAU please give me some feedback/reviews and general comments about the school and the program.

ps

I'm married so I'm not looking for a party school. And does the curriculum allow me to get a part-time job?

Hey,

I am sure I may get a lot of people who disagree with me, but i recently graduated ERAU in Daytona Beach and flew at the flight school all four years. First, off, I would definitely recommend it especially to you and here's why...

1. most people love it but complain about the cost, but this won't be an issue for you with the GI Bill.

2. Every plane is in mint condition and the maintenance is second to none. with the large volume of plane's they have available, you will almost never go and find out yo0u can't fly because there is no plane since a few went down for maintenance. If you do ever get a no aircraft (nac), they credit your account to give you free flight time. Even minor problems like a missing screw inside or something can be taken care of immediately.

3. Yes, just like any place, there are good and bad flight instructors with certain one's that get burnt out, but you can talk to your training manager and get it changed if it becomes a problem.

4. You will be flying the latest and greatest in technology for general aviation including but not limited to the glass cockpit g1000, gps with waas/raim, and adsb, as well as some older steam gauge in your commercial which will give you a wide variety and a nice idea of what you may be flying in the future.

5. Every guy I saw there on the GI Bill seemed to thoroughly enjoy it and seemed very happy.

The school and town aren't too big for partying anyways, but there is fun to be made if you know what you want, but you will be completely fine. Hope some of this helped.
