$95,000 a year? It's not the pay so much as it is the living conditions. I did some time in multiple stops on the "Spread Freedom & Democracy Around the World" Tour. There is absolutely no upside. As much as you think $95,000 a year is an upside, you'll quickly find out how little 95 large is in a place like that.
You'll work 12 hour days, 7 days a week. Sometimes more. Definitely not less. You'll get 2 weeks of paid vacation, and that INCLUDES days spent trying to get on charters into and out of country. Be back on time, or else... It may not be as much as a problem now as it used to be, since they kicked our colonizing behinds out of the country.
You'll be working along side 3rd world nationals that despise you because you're American, and despise you because they get treated like dirt to the proportions that will shock you if you pay attention, Iraqis that despise you because you're an over-stayed un-invited guest in their homes, and you'll be living "at work" 24/7. Bored people create problems just to create something interesting in their lives. It makes sense on a logical level, but living with it is a whole different deal. There is no "just wake up, go to work, go home, mind your own business". Your life becomes everyone else's business because you live with them 24/7.
Get ready to pay $90 a month for internet... But, you can afford it, you're making $95,000.
And remember your lanyard. At ALL times have your lanyard. The lanyard is LIFE. Lest you get mistaken for one of "them". You know, the evil them.
At BIAP, you won't experience warzone. No rockets. No mortars. No grenades. Nada. It will be day after monotonous day of suck.
