Got a 24 layover tomorrow in AMS. The layover hotel in the "The Hague".

Any tips on a whirlwind tour?

Den Haag!

If it is raining, go to the city art musuem and see the Girl with the Pearl Earing [no dirty jokes please] which is considered the Dutch Monalisa.

If it is warm, take one of the free bikes the hotel offers and ride to the beach. Fat chance it will be warm.

There is a mini red light district here. But it is more sad and creepy than entertaining.

You could take the train to downtown Amsterdam, 45 minutes. Mike's Bike tours is a good way to see the city. Don't forget to go to the ballet....There are many of them, most in the red light district........which has now become a tourist spectacle. The Anne Frank house is worthwhile but ge ther early as there is always a line. Oh, and do take a canal boat tour. The Haag has them too.

The hotel offers free tram tickets in Den Haag.

The Dutch love eating pork ribs. That and Malaysian food.....which is like a mix of Thai and Indian. Your crew might want to eat at the "Three Rabbits" because it has all you can eat ribs. It is OK, but there are better places in town. Ask the hotel staff. The Blakan Grill is another popular crew feeding ground. It is an orgy of meat, great for Atkins dieters. The atmosphere is a bit dank however. The fish market has a restaurant area and is a good value for those who love seafood.

Also, if you decide to commit any war crimes in the next few days, the Hague Tribunal prison is next to the hotel for your convenience.

Don't forget to eat your Bitterballen. Goes great with beer. Drink that too!
