Aircraft MX logs?

I am a current Marine who will be getting out in a few months. My current job is Maintenance Admin and I deal with all of the aircraft documentationand logbooks for the aircraft. I track the inspections, repairable components and things like that. I am wondering if there is an equivalent job in the civilian sector and if so, what type of training is required. I am Level four in most everything. I appreciate all of your help.

My best guess would be "not exactly." At least not in the GA world. Mechanics are expected to turn wrenches at least occasionally ;)

I don't know on the airline side, it's a possibility since you're dealing with large fleets.

Lots of jobs like that in the 121 world. At a place like Delta, they have a huge record keeping department. Plenty of different options to do. At a smaller airline that would all be combined into one position. I would just look on any airline's website for open position and they will tell you what you need. Good luck.

I have a friend that works for a helicopter manufacturer and has a position like this. It's called aircraft management, he landed the job with an A&P as well as a bachelor's in aviation management.

Good luck.

Check out Air Methods in Denver or any other major helicopter EMS provider. They have record keepers who keep us mechanics honest in our paperwork. We are not using RAMCO which somehow ended up creating more work instead of automating it. It requires lots of human input in order to be accurate. Jobs like yours will be around for a long time.
