2012 Mil Pic Post

I used to do this alot when 2-ship on the range, but I spent alot of my range time single-ship, being a FAC. You ever do single ship to the range or such?

Navy legacy Hornets don't play the FAC(A) game, though we do of course do plenty of CAS. I have been to the range a number of times as a singleton while in the RAG just due to aircraft shortages (my first live strafe was single ship actually). I always enjoyed those flights, as the transit from Miramar to Cactus West/Yuma was about 20 mins or so, and I could just punch on baro hold and ATC and enjoy the view to and from, not worry about flying form/etc. Never gone to the range single ship since I've been in the fleet though. I guess I would if need be, but our maintainers are rockstars and keep the jets up.

One way or the other, make the manual stuff happen. That CCIP crap, if you aren't good at it by now, you never will be. It's idiot proof more or less. Start challenging yourself now and learning some degraded ops in the steed you will be taking to combat. Capice?

all of those photos were taken at Ft. Sill, Lawton, OK. yes it was dreadful, but while at the FAA academy in OKC I went back to visit and it was 10x worse now than it was then.

Jesus but you're a big son of a gun. Do they have to get out the oil to get you in the cockpit? You need to show up for the next NJC so we can get you and the wookie drunk and try to put you both in to increasingly small spaces.

LOL, funny thing about that pic is the other two guys are small. I have big shoulders but the CO, in the middle, is like 5'4" no kidding. I'm 6' 220lbs. We have two pilots here in Kingsville who are both 6'5" and 275lbs!!! One looks just like the Rock but his callsign is Buttercup :)

Not nearly as cool, but here's a handful from my four years...

First 2 are during my Ft. Huachuca Honor Guard Days. I'm pulling the lanyard on the small pack Howitzer and I'm just a young little PFC on the left in the 2nd pic (Taken during an active duty funeral). 3rd one is me about 1/2 mile from North Korea, it's the other side of the green valley running left to right. 4th...well, it's always fun to hang out side a blackhawk. 5th is my mountain and I in Korea.

In all seriousness, everything I post is in an attempt to de-acronym things as much as humanly possible. Of course any of us in aviation probably use a lot more acronyms than we think we do......mil just uses ones that other pilots aren't necissarily familiar with I guess.

UN stands for UNable in the rest of the world.

All the merry travelers in that area of the world had much rather Ride in Sikorsky style from what I experienced.
