Yep.Is this NAS Whidbey? The weather beat fir tree in the background makes me think so.
Who allowed this to happen? I don’t think there’s any provenance related to the paint scheme.View attachment 68978
Good question, I'll ask the guy who approved it
As a useless sidebar, the parking spot that us reservists have reserved, is immediately to the (from picture perspective) right of that blue truck on the right side. There is a non-zero chance my car is just outside the field of view of this pic.
Were you flying growlers at Whidbey? So did my neighbors son. It "might" be a small world.
VR-1355 or bust.I love the sound of freedom when the Growlers fly over Lake Chelan.

Pretty horrendous paint scheme, if my opinion matters.
Is it me or does the article have a pic of an F-15?
My bad Professor DuxfordIt’s you, it’s a Growler. The Navy has zoomy planes too.
5 years in the hangar? It probably would have only needed to be in there for about a year but that bird became the cann bitch. Count on it.
Navy thought this was going to be a write-off but worked with Boeing to come up with a plan to rebuild/repair. I think it was bailed to Boeing pretty quickly, probably to prevent it from being canned.
Yeah I think it was a pretty bad accident (for the airplanes involved), in spite of the fact that everyone lived and both jets landed.
What’s weird is that’s not the first time it’s happened to Hornets.
It’s almost like if you’re gonna have a midair…. That’s the plane to be in when it happens.
